Max Global Experience: Uganda
Tanner Pharma Group is proud to serve as the title sponsor for The Max Foundation’s “Max Global Experience: Uganda,” an expedition to raise awareness and funds for increased cancer treatment access in Africa.
In August, Banks Bourne, Founder & Chairman of Tanner Pharma Group / CEO of Bourne Partners, and Rob Keel, Director of TannerMAP, made the journey to Uganda to help bridge the “last mile” of treatment access for cancer patients. The “last mile” refers to the unseen efforts of patients and caregivers to make treatment truly accessible. The fundraising and trip were meant to echo the journey cancer survivors take (sometimes walking many miles) to get the treatment, care, and support they need. While in Uganda, the team attended the #MaxLastMile Symposium in Entebbe and met with patients, partners, and doctors to discuss local needs, advocacy techniques, and the future of treatment access.
In support of The Max Foundation’s efforts, the Bourne Partners and Tanner Pharma teams joined forces globally to walk a combined 7,500 miles (the distance between Charlotte, NC & Uganda) during the 8 weeks leading up to the event. Participants tracked the distance they walked, ran, and cycled. All together the Bourne & Tanner Pharma teams walked 7,667 miles.
